If you are reading this post you may be looking for information about allotment gardens.

Congratulations, you're in the right place!

A mini vegetable plot is, as its name suggests, a small vegetable plot to introduce us to the world of horticulture. It is also a good way to get started.

To do this, we are going to look at the most common sizes of urban vegetable gardens for rent and, according to their size, what they will be useful for and see what we can consider a mini vegetable plot:

A mini garden can be considered from 12 to 25m2.

  • The 12 m2 vegetable garden: It is a small plot of 3mx4m is the minimum size to have a vegetable garden. But, of course, we warn you that you are going to be a bit limited.
  • The 25 m2 garden: This is the minimum to have the salad vegetables you will get in spring and summer. This size can be found in some Gardenphy's rental gardens

It is not advisable to plant fruit trees or species that require a lot of space in mini-gardens.

The most common sizes you will find for rental garden plots are going to be these:

  • The 50m2 vegetable garden: With this size you can have your vegetables all year round.
  • The 100m2 garden: With this size you can cover the needs of an average family and have some vegetables left over to share with friends or family.

As you can see,  a vegetable garden requires its own space, as the vegetables have an important size and some of them, such as tomato plants, have to be protected so that our tomatoes do not remain on the ground.

Therefore, if you have ever had or have a growing table that is made to be placed on a balcony or terrace, you will see that it falls short for vegetables on the surface and also in depth, since the compost-rich soil or deep worm humus y is the one that will nourish our vegetables.

So, given the sizes, you decide what best suits your needs, whether a mini garden or a larger one.
